Donations and Refunds
Swan City Youth Service is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.
By making a donation, you confirm that:
- You accept the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
- You understand that you can stop communication or update your personal information by contacting us.
We use your information only to process donations and communicate with you about our work. De-identified data may be used for charity benchmarking to help improve our fundraising efforts.
Donations can be one-time, recurring, or a gift in a Will. Swan City Youth Service decides how funds are used across our programs. If a donation is made for a specific project, we will try to direct the funds accordingly but are not required to do so. Gifts in kind will also be used as needed.
We provide official receipts for approved donations of $2.00 or more. One-time donations receive individual receipts, while recurring donations can receive individual receipts or an annual receipt, based on the donor’s preference when completing the recurring donation form. Anonymous donations are accepted, but we cannot issue a tax-deductible receipt for them.
Swan City Youth Service uses Keela and Stripe to collect donations and process payments. By donating, you also agree to their terms and conditions.
Online Donations
This website allows secure online donations. However, while we take steps to protect your information, there are still risks when transferring data over the internet.
We record donor details, including name, address, email, phone number, and donation amount, in our fundraising database. This database is protected by secure user IDs and passwords to help prevent misuse, unauthorized access, changes, or disclosure.
For more details on how we collect and use donor information, please see our Privacy Policy.
Refunds
Recurring Donations
To request a donation refund, you must contact Swan City Youth Service within 14 days of making the donation. You can reach us by phone at (08) 9274 3488 between 9 AM and 5 PM AWST (Monday to Friday) or by email at reception@scys.org.au.
All donations, purchases, or transactions made through this website using a credit card are final and cannot be disputed. However, if there has been unauthorized use of your credit card and you can provide evidence of this, we may consider a refund.
We carefully review all refund requests and will correct genuine errors, but refunds are at our discretion. If you would like to request a refund, please provide details of how you made the donation, the amount, the date, and the reason for your request.
If a donation is refunded, the original tax receipt is no longer valid and should be securely destroyed. It is your responsibility to ensure that you submit the correct receipts to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
Please note that online refunds for donations collected through a third-party payment processor may incur a fee set by the processor. This fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
The SCYS Donation Debit Services Agreement governs any donation recurring or individual arrangements with Swan City Youth Service.
To cancel a recurring donation, you must notify us at least 10 business days before your next scheduled payment.
If you manage your recurring donation yourself—such as through a direct bank debit—you can cancel or change it at any time.
Unacceptable Donations
Swan City Youth Service holds a Charitable Collections Licence and adheres to the Charitable Collections Act (WA) 1946, which governs fundraising in Western Australia.
We will not accept a donation if:
- We believe the donor is in a vulnerable situation or unable to make an informed decision about donating.
- Accepting the donation would go against our values or the best interests of our organisation.
- The cost of processing the donation is higher than the donation itself.
- There is a risk that accepting the donation could lead to legal issues.
We also cannot accept funds raised in ways that go against our values or may conflict with the work we do. Each donation or fundraising agreement is reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure it aligns with our mission. We will not accept donations linked to:
- Illegal activities
- Weapons or violence
- Discrimination against vulnerable people
- Irresponsible sale or use of alcohol or drugs
- The gambling industry
- The tobacco or vaping industry
- Payday lending
- High-risk activities that could cause harm
- Risks to children and young people
- Nudity, sexual exploitation of children or young people, or pornography
Swan City Youth Service may accept donations from some government programs related to gambling if the funds are legally required to support community initiatives.
