Our Noodle Cup Wall Fundraiser is a simple yet powerful way you can make a real difference in a young person’s life.

At Swan City Youth Service, we see firsthand how something as small as a cup of noodles can carry so much meaning. For many of the young people who walk through our doors, life is filled with challenges – family and domestic violence, homelessness, food insecurity, or just trying to get through each day without support. When everything feels uncertain, a noodle cup can offer a moment of comfort, safety, and dignity.

We’ve had young people tell us that the cup of noodles they had for afternoon tea at SCYS was the only meal they had that day. Others quietly ask if they can take a few home — not for themselves, but for their little brothers or sisters, because there’s nothing in the cupboard and they don’t want them going to bed hungry. In that small act, they’re showing resilience, care, and a sense of responsibility far beyond their years.

For those sleeping rough or couch surfing, asking someone for food can feel overwhelming or even shameful. But asking to boil the kettle? That feels easier. It means they can still meet their own needs with a sense of independence. A noodle cup tucked in their bag becomes a lifeline — lightweight, easy to carry, and warm when they need it most. And for those doing it tough on the streets, knowing they can access hot water at a servo and have a hot meal without needing to go anywhere else can make all the difference.

To us, it might just be noodles. But to a teenager who’s hungry, tired, and trying to make it through another day, it’s more than food — it’s comfort, it’s pride, and it’s survival.
