Education at SCYS

SCYS offers Certificate I & II in General Education and GATE (Gaining Access to Training and Employment), delivered by North Metro TAFE lecturers. Held at our Youth Centre in Midland, students have access to all our facilities during breaks and after study hours. We welcome young people aged 15 to 25 years, providing a supportive environment with lecturers, Youth Workers, and volunteers to help them reach their full potential.

If you’re interested in our education programs, please call us at 9274 3488 to arrange an introductory meeting and assessment. Once a place becomes available, we’ll contact you to begin the enrolment process.

In Partnership with North Metropolitan TAFE

With over 25 years of partnership with North Metropolitan TAFE, our Education Program continues to grow, providing young people with valuable opportunities to build their skills and further their education. Through Certificate I & II in General Education and GATE (Gaining Access to Training and Employment), we support students in achieving their goals in a flexible, supportive, and engaging learning environment. Our long-standing collaboration ensures high-quality education, experienced lecturers, and access to the resources young people need to succeed. As the program evolves, we remain committed to helping students gain confidence, knowledge, and pathways to further study or employment.

Valuable Volunteers

At SCYS, we are grateful for our amazing volunteers who support our Education Program and make a real difference in the lives of young people. One of these incredible groups is The Read Write Now program, which provides free one-on-one support from trained volunteer tutors, tailoring their teaching to meet individual needs and circumstances. Their dedication helps students build confidence, develop skills, and reach their full potential. If you’re interested in mentoring within our Education Program, we’d love to hear from you. Please check out our listing through City of Swan Volunteering to get involved.

Breakfast Club

During term time, thanks to the generous support of Slewrig Constructions and Crane Hire, SCYS provides a nutritious breakfast to young people as they start their day. From tasty bacon and egg muffins to fresh fruit and Up & Go drinks, all young people enrolled in the Education Program can fuel up for a day of learning in a supportive environment.
